AMA-CON, Amarillo’s annual pop culture convention, celebrates the best in comics, gaming, anime, sci-fi, and everything else geeky and awesome.


Special guests at this year’s AMA-CON include:

Cosplayers Frostbite Cosplay, Cosplay Cory, and Dat Ashe Cosplay


There will be 5 separate cosplay contests at AMA-CON 2017:  Kids, Comics, Gaming, Anime, and Sci/Fi and Steampunk.  Sci-Fi and Steampunk will cosplay together but awards will be given in each category.


AMA-CON 2017 will also feature an AMA-CON Art Show, children’s activities, a screening room, photo opportunities, professional and amateur sketch-offs, panels & presentations, artist demonstrations, and many more activities.


The always popular Geek Prom, sponsored by Alpha Media, will take place Saturday evening from 7 to 10 PM in the Regency Room!


AMA-CON is hosted by Friends of the Amarillo Public Library and funds raised through AMA-CON allow Friends of the Amarillo Public Library to support Library educational services including:

  • AMARILLO READS Community Reading Program
  • Summer Reading Club
  • READ to SUCCEED Adult Reading Skills Tutoring
  • English as a Second Language and US Citizenship Classes


Admission wristbands will go on sale soon in the Friends Store located on the first floor of the Downtown Amarillo Public Library!  AMA-CON temporary tattoos are available for purchase at all five library locations.  Wear one and help spread the word!
